Christmas Countdown: Festive Books

Only 15 sleeps till Christmas day. Are you already feeling festive?

I am. We've finally put up all our decorations and I like how cosy and christmassy our house looks now. I can't wait for the 24th, when we put up our tree.

To get you into the mood for Christmas, today marks the start of my Christmas countdown on this blog. Therefore I'll bring you three posts in the next weeks until Christmas, with the best books, films and music for the Advent/Christmas time.

And the first one today is a very special one - a guest post by Laura from Lozza's Book Corner. I asked her to pick her favourite Christmas books for you, so you can have a wonderful time reading "under" your Christmas tree. What's nicer than getting cozy with a blanket, a lot of candles and reading a cute book.

So here are Laura's suggestions for a good Christmas read. Click the titles to go to Laura's reviews of the books.

Top for festive romance

Winters Fairytale by Maxine Morrey

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

A few weeks before Christmas and a sudden blanketing of snow has closed the roads and brought public transport grinding to a halt, stranding Izzy miles from home and in desperate need of rescuing.
That doesn’t mean she’s looking to bump into Rob and spend a cosy weekend holed up in his swanky flat watching London become a winter wonderland! Because Izzy and Rob have history…

Six months ago, they were standing in the vestry of a beautiful country church, while best man Rob delivered the news that every bride dreads on their big day.

But at the time of year when anything is possible, can Rob and Izzy let go of the past and let Christmas work its magic? Or will this be one holiday wish that Izzy lets walk right out of her life…

Wish Upon a Christmas Cake by Darcie Boleyn

The most wonderful time of the year?

Katie Warham has just one wish this year…to have the best Christmas ever!

If only she could lock herself away in a cloud of flour and sugar at her cosy little tearoom, Crumbtious Cakes, instead of spending the festive season trapped with her judgemental mother, crazy Aunt Gina and loved-up celebrity brother Karl…

But Katie never expected her ex-boyfriend, widower Sam – and his two adorable children – to turn up on her doorstep. She didn’t think that any man could tempt her under the mistletoe this year, but Sam might just prove the exception! And as the snow begins to fall and Katie puts the final touches to her famous Christmas cake, she begins to wonder, could her Christmas wish actually come true?

This holiday season, snuggle up by a roaring fire with a mulled wine and enjoy Darcie Boleyn’s festive winter warmer!

Top festive sequel

Dream a Little Christmas Dream by Giovanna Fletcher

Sarah's doing great. Okay, her dreams might still be totally bananas but real life is definitely back on track. She's got a fantastic job, amazing friends and plans to spend all Christmas wrapped up with Brett, her handsome boyfriend.

But after another night of increasingly bizarre dreams, Sarah wakes to find her housemate suddenly announcing she's moving out. And later that day Brett begins to act strangely. He's clearly hiding something - but what?

Soon Sarah can't help but wonder if she's living in a festive nightmare. Will any of her dreams come true for Christmas?

Dream a Little Christmas Dream is the sequel to Giovanna Fletcher's Dream a Little Dream, which I told you about earlier this year. Click here to get to my review of Dream a Little Dream.

Top festive due...

...featuring the Cavelli brothers. Laura recommends reading them in this order, but you could read them as standalone books as well, if you don't want to read both.

Cold Feet at Christmas by Debbie Johnson

Running out on your wedding shouldn't be this much fun!

A remote Scottish castle on a snowy Christmas Eve. A handsome husband-to-be. A dress to die for. It should have been the happiest day of Leah Harvey’s life – but the fairytale wedding turns sour when she finds her fiancé halfway up the bridesmaid’s skirt just hours before the ceremony!

Fleeing the scene in a blizzard, Leah ends up stranded at the nearest cottage, where she collapses into the arms of its inhabitant – a man so handsome she thinks she must have died and gone to heaven!

And when Rob Cavelli suddenly finds himself with an armful of soaking wet, freezing cold, and absolutely gorgeous bride on the run, he’s more than happy to welcome her into his snowbound cottage this Christmas…

Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Jumper by Debbie Johnson

You’ve seen Mark Darcy in the reindeer jumper his mother gave him, now meet Marco Cavelli in this season’s hottest Christmas knit!

For single mum Maggie, Christmas has always been a family occasion – her daughter Ellen filling the house with her bubbly warmth and mistletoe, her dad Paddy having one too many festive tipples, and the traditional family Christmas tree looking like a drunken elf vomited a rainbow all over it.

But this year, with both Ellen and Paddy away for the holidays, Maggie’s facing a truly blue Christmas – alone with nothing but a bottle of Baileys and an M&S turkey dinner.

Until walking the snowy streets of Oxford, Marco Cavelli quite literally crashes into her life – and, complete with broken leg, becomes her unexpected house-guest. All dreamy brown eyes and 6’5” of gorgeousness, the man is hotter and more delicious than a freshly baked mince pie.

Though Maggie always thought it’s a truth universally acknowledged that you never kiss a man in a Christmas jumper?

Alright, these are the books suggested by Laura. Choose one to start with and have a gret time. Don't forget to check out Laura's blog Lozza's Book Corner, which is great, and read her reviews of the books above, by clicking the title links.

And thank you again to Laura, who helped me out on this post - due to my lack of Christmas book knowledge.

I hope you enjoyed it. Have a wonderful 3rd Advent Sunday.

Love
