The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

"Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. ‘Jess and Jason’, she calls them. Their life – as she sees it – is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough.
Now everything’s changed. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar.
Now they’ll see; she’s much more than just the girl on the train…"

This book was recommended to me a lot. Friends, all kinds of people on Twitter, Amazon, Audible, Facebook adverts and then Goodreads. I had to get the book and read it, hadn't I? And it's pretty obvious why it's been recommended everywhere.
Firstly it's because it's said to be (and really is) a novel which is great for people who loved Gone Girl and I did. I listened to the audio book and rated it five stars. No wonder Amazon/Audible is telling me I should buy this one. Secondly it's the book which was on the bestseller shelves in nearly every book store and therefore many people talked about it and I didn't hear anything bad. Therefore I bought it and couldn't wait to read it.

And when I started I was excited and wanted to get through it as fast as I can. I loved the way of telling the story. I enjoy hearing different perspectives on stories, therefore Paula Hawkin's way of telling this mystical drama through three women's eyes was great to read. The only thing which made it a bit demanding was the time difference between the storylines.

This is the point where I'm just realising I should probably tell you a bit more about the story. But on the other hand, it's quite nice to find out yourself and I always hate myself for spoiling a book for me when reading summaries. So, I'm just going to leave it to you to you if you need a summary. I'm saying just read the book, don't loose the thrill of it by knowing to much about it before.

All I can say on this premise is that there is a crime/mystery to be solved and it's fun and thrilling to figure out what really happend. Thanks to keeping track of my thoughts during reading with goodreads I can tell you that I had to read 80% of the book until I got the right idea of what really happened. That's a sign of a good mystery isn't it.

Soooo, that's all. I loved it. Read it! ;-)
And if you alread have, what do you think of it? Leave a comment.

    1. It is quite different to gone girl, especially the way of telling the story. Just the mysteriously vanishing person and the quest of finding out about what happened is the same. If you don't like book that have this whodunit style and lots of strange characters, then you probably really shouldn't read it.
